Delegates at the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry Annual General Meeting, Friday elected Mr. Edrisa Mass Jobe as the organization’s new president. The AGM which was well attended by key players in the country’s business industry was held at Kairaba Beach Hotel.
Founded in 1967, the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the body that facilitates business development, promotes trade and advances the interest of Gambian business nationally and internationally. The GCCI on Friday held its annual general meeting in which a new executive was elected to oversee the affairs of the organization.
The event which was held at Kairaba Beach Hotel, was attended by entrepreneurs and key players in the business industry. Speaking at the event, the outgoing president Muhammed Jagana registered his delight at the convening of another AGM which brought to an end his 6 years’ reign as president of the country’s main business organization.
Delivering his statement, the newly elected president Edrissa Mass Jobe thanked the general membership for entrusting him with the organization’s leadership. He implored members to continue supporting the executive in order to bring about the necessary changes that will contribute towards business growth in the country.
Meanwhile, Babucarr Khan who lost the election to Edrissa Mass Jobe by 394 votes to 158 votes said the business community in the Gambia has over the years registered massive improvement despite the challenges they continue to encounter.
The GCCI membership is composed of companies from all sectors of The Gambian business community such as Trade and Commerce, Agriculture, Finance and Banking, Industry, Tourism, Transport and Telecommunications.
