Bansang Hospital Appeal Organization base in The United Kingdom UK has recently donated Bansang Hospital with huge material includes 1 Brand new 100 KVA generator, 1 New tractor, 3 Oxygen concentrators with solar batteries for the oxygen plants at the children ward, large amount of drugs, ordinary cloths for all the workers within the hospital. This magnificent gesture is aiming to improve the condition of the hospital and making the working environment more conducive for the staff.
Speaking to Baba Jeng the chief executive officer CEO of Bansang Hospital in an interview with The Voice Newspaper, he stated that this magnificent gesture is aiming to improve the condition of the great institution and to motivate the staff in adjusting their efforts.
“The organization under the leadership of Anita Smith usually provide the hospital with drugs which is vital in the hospital, furthermore the gesture is significant in improving the health condition of the hospital as no sanatorium will function without the require materials,” he said.
He continued:” the donation is very vital because health is very expensive and government alone cannot do it, thus if we have partners coming in complementing government effort then they should be embrace.”
The health expert said this organization is unlike other donors who provide expire drugs which are not much needed, adding that this donors do not supply materials to the hospital without confirming its needs.
He asserted that his management specify the kind of drugs and its expiry date before its coming, noting the drugs usually modern for two years and mostly they supply the institution with antibiotic drugs which are very expensive.
Mr. Jeng noted that the provision of this medicine help in curing patient and minimize their traveling for distant in search of this kind of medicine. “My institution is delight with the organization for supplying this valuable equipment, the international partners are really unique with this hospital as this is not the only time they help the institution,” the health expert said.
He noted that the partnership will continued as his management always put the materials in good use, adding that if the material were not properly utilize the relationship would have stop.
The Principal Nursing Officer PNO for Bansang Hospital Burama Badjie said the donation of the material through the Bansang Hospital Appeal in UK under the leadership of Anita Smith is very crucial in this noble institution.
He affirmed that the tractor is donated especially to the hospital staff association due to their exceptional and dedication toward the well being of the hospital. He said the association invests in agriculture and the profit come back to the hospital to feed the patient.
“The hospital is also provided with 100KVA generator which is personally donated by Miss Nicola livintin through the advocacy of madam smith. It also use for replacement of electricity because NAWEC works from 8:00 Am to 13:00 Pm and the hospital will use the generator to continue the work,” he noted.
He said despite the coming of the new generator the energy in the hospital is still insufficient, he urged philanthropists and organizations to support the institution with drugs, energy, and clothing among others to upgrade the noble institution.
The health specialist said energy and the increasing demand of patients are the major challenges of the hospital, saying the health institution is registering patient all the way from URR and neighboring Senegal. He said:” Many people coming to the hospital due to the satisfactory work they getting as the staff are willing to face any patient at any given time.”
Gallo Bah a Senegalese national patient commended the hospital’s management for its hard work and generosity toward the patients. “Whenever I come here I receive the require medicine because firstly I brought my daughter here to give birth and this time and I came with my in-law who suffered from toothache but all of them got good medicine,” he said.
Noting that he is not a Gambian but he is very happy with the donation of this materials especially the generator, saying electricity is paramount importance for the hospital, as it help patient to be cure easily and comfort them while in the health institution.
“We are not Gambian but respected in this hospital like any other patient and am urging the board to maintain the kindness and give more rooms for my fellow Senegalese,’’ he added. While Gibbiril Jawo the President of the Hospital Staff Association commended the donor for the gesture.
