The Gambia Police Force on Friday 18th June, 2021 briefed the press on the arrest of Five Foreign Nationals allegedly accused of obtaining money by false pretense .
This fake money printing machine, fake money making chemicals, fake papers used to produced money, otherwise known as "black paper", is what the suspects are said to have used to scam several individuals out of hundreds of thousands of dalasis, and claiming to have money doubling means.
All five are currently in police custody helping officers with their investigations. The staggering sum of $57,000 USD, counterfeit cash has been recovered.
Explaining the tricks suspects used to scam people, Superintendent Buba Ceesay of the Police Fraud Investigation Department, warns the public against dealing with people claiming to have money doubling means.
The suspects, who are non-Gambian, are believed to have accomplices who are Gambian nationals. However, the police say they are investigating and anyone found to be involved will face the full force of the law.
Supt. Ceesay, again emphasizes the need to avoid becoming involved in such activities. The police are also calling on the public to report any such crimes to help minimize crime in the country.
