The NAM for Old Yundum Constituency and its 3 ward councillors over the weekend, donated 19 bags of 30kgs rice for 19 household within its constituency, this was follow a fundraising activity done recently with Taranga FM
OLD Yundum Constituency in the Kombo North District recently joined crusade in providing humanitarian assistance to the needy through forming a taskforce committee.
Handing over the donated items to the beneficiary, Hon. Abdoulie Ceesay NAM for Old Yundum Constituency said since the declaring of the State of Public Emergency by the president, set discussed with his 3 ward councillors from different political parties to respond to demands from the needy and vulnerable in the constituency. A taskforce was form meant to solicit funds through airtimes given by Taranga FM.
He noted that, an amount of D11, 400 (Eleven Thousand, four hundred) was secured and used for the purchased of 19 bags of 30kgs rice to be distributed 19 household within the community. He highlighted the need for people to share with the less privilege in this trying times and wish to make it a continuity throughout the pandemic.
Pa Masowe Jobe member of the taskforce express gratitude to all those who in one way or the other continue towards this initiative especially Taranga FM. Sowe noted that, the selection for the beneficiaries is done by the taskforce which would assess the most in need and record their details for distribution in a transparency manner.
Fatou Jallow Old Yundum Ward Councilor said the community deemed it necessary to stand for the community since it was part of the reason for their election into office and is one of the time they are needed most. She said part of their intentions is to help which can be done in the presence of health and this is a difficult moment for all.
She highlighted the importance of people to help before the aftermath of the pandemic the general public to come and support this initiative which will be used for not only rice but other basic food items.
Alhagie Sowe Jabang Ward Councillor mentioned the necessary steps taking to the needy in this Corona Virus pandemic as staying at home without food is a serious.
He explained the criteria set aside for the distribution of the funds gathers.
According to the committee this process will continue and appealing from people who have little over those living less than a dollar a day to come up and support the initiative and feed a family during this very critical time of our country.
