The Inspector General of Police Guinea Bissau Thomas Jarsey, The Guinea Bissau Ambassador to The Gambia, Guinea Bissau Permanent Secretary Ministry of Interior, PS Ministry of interior yesterday Monday 22nd March, 2021 visited the family of the late IGP Mamour Jobe in Sinchu Alhagie.
According to the Guinea Ambassador, Guinea Bissau recognized the efforts of The Gambia in its peace process and Late IGP Jobe in his 3 years term contributed immensely towards that knowing sub regional peace is key. He therefore said, his death is not only a blow to Gambia but throughout the sub region.
He said Jobe has numerous times discussed with him the possible ways to strengthening the bilateral peace agreement between the two countries.
For his part IGP of Guinea Bissau, Thomas Jarsey said, he received the news with great shock and pained because he was a close allied who shared a lot of brotherly relations.
IGP Jarsey said the advice given to him by Jobe has contributed to Guinea Bissau peace. He explained the cordial relationships between not only the two countries but them the two IGPs as smooth and effective resulting to the visits of both Presidents recently.
Jarsey stated that , they were planning for a visit in order for Jobe to see at first hand what he is doing in Guinea Bissau. Therefore on behalf of the people of Guinea Bissau extend their condolences to all.
Demba Sowe Representing the Deputy Inspector General of Police there role was to lead the delegation to the compound safely and return but when given the chance he must add what he knows about him.
He explained that, he was also trained by the late IGP and knew a lot in him, his characters and respect for people opinion, rights and love for the uniform is well noticed and admired during his training which he never regretted of knowing.
He attested that, Jobe's term of office laid a solid foundation and brought togetherness, team spirits between security force and respect to the police thus increasing the community policing.
For his part, Permanent Secretary Ministry interior also said, the Late IGP Jobe was a symbol for peace and security within the sub Region which is manifested by the Delegations of the two countries IGPs.
He also said him and the late IGP Jobe first wife Haddijation Jallow attended the same class and he was also trained Police Training School by Jobe in the late 1980s , therefore its his duty to expressed sadness like others despite representing the ministry of interior.
He therefore urged all and sundry especially the security apparatus between the countries, citizens to join and continue his legacy which is peace togetherness, and security.
Speaking on behalf of the Family, Ousman Gaye Cousin of the late IGP expressed gratitude to the Guinea Bissau delegation for joining the other dignitaries.
Gaye highlighted the level of satisfaction and appreciation to all Gambians and beyond who took this sad news upon themselves and share it with the family. He said the visits of IGPs of this two closely countries (Senegal and Guinea Bissau) show them that the late IGP Jobe was a man of peace and stability.
He extend gratitude to the Gambia government, Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Security bodies, people attended the funeral, countless people who were all with grief and the Media houses whose coverage was done in a high sense of humbleness and professionalism and prays to the almighty Allah to continue bless the Gambia.
Speaking earlier Salifu Ceesay Alkalo of Sinchu Alhagie welcomed the dignitaries and informed them that the late IGP was a very sociable person and believed in dialogue. He mentioned that his intention was since the late IGP studied Law and was also to retired he would have been asked to lead the Village Council of Elders due to his dedication to community service.
In presence were IGP Job’s 3 wives, children, close family relatives and member of police and community leaders followed by a group picture was taken of them and the family.
