Ex-Commanding Officer of the Serious Crime Unit of The Gambia Police Force Muhammed L.K Bojang, Tuesday 11 April, 2019 testified at the Truth Reconciliation and Reparation Commission headquarters in The Gambia.
He alleged that former Finance minister Ousman Koro Ceesay was gruesomely murdered and burnt to ashes. He made this allegation while testifying as a witness at the ongoing Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Public hearings.
Appearing before commissioners of the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission, former Commanding Officer of the Serious Crime Unit of The Gambia Police Force Muhammed L.K Bojang, Thursday testified in relation to the assassination of former Finance Minister Ousman Koro Ceesay.
In his testimony, the witness adduced he visited the crime scene where the late Koro Ceesay’s car was found on June 25th 1994. The witness who claimed he led investigations into the circumstances that led to the death of the former finance minister, said he was determined to establish the truth, and as a result he was allegedly under constant surveillance by Intelligence operatives directly working with the Junta.
Further testifying, the witness alleged that a few days after Koro Ceesay’s assassination, he was told by then I.G.P F.R.I Jammeh that Chairman Jammeh had ordered that Koro Ceesay’s case file be closed. Asked whether the former finance minister was really involve in an accident as claimed by the Junta, the witness refuted that theory asserting that the crime scene suggested otherwise.
Meanwhile the witness also corroborated allegations made by other witnesses that ex-president Jammeh then Head of the military Police led a group of Gendarmerie officers who attacked Bakau Police Station in 1992. The witness claimed he was in Charge of the Bakau Police station and he allegedly sustained injuries during the fight, claiming he was bionated.
Chief Bojang was born in Sukuta on the 1st January, 1942. He joined The Gambia Police Force in 1967 and told the Commission the role he played in the failed 1981 Kukoi Samba Sanyang’s coup, whilst he was a sergeant under Abdoulie Mboob as the Inspector General of Police.
