In a bid to encourage and provide mentorship for young girls, Jainaba Sonko, on Saturday organized a media networking event for about 50 young girls
from several senior schools within the greater Banjul area. More in this

Guidance, and mentorship play a crucial role in shaping one's future. In her young yet glittering career, QTV's Jainaba Sonko, has been a source of inspiration for many young school-going girls in the Gambia. Through her work, especially the popular youth dialogue show which airs weekly on QTV, she has impacted many lives. Addressing participants, Jainaba, says Saturday's event was conceived following daily visits, calls and messages from many young girls who look up to her.
On listening to the voices of children, Saikou Jammeh, former Secretary General of the Gambia Press Union and UNICEF country representative, Gordon Jonathan Lewis, highlighted the importance of such a program and the need to formulate policies that are geared towards protecting and promoting the rights of children. Adding that UNICEF
is proud to be associated with such a program.
Communication Specialist, Essa Jallow, QTV Marketing Manager, Kujeh Kah, Babucarr Manka, Creative Production Manager at State of Mic and GRTS newscaster, Fatou Elika Muloshi, all took turns to share their stories and words of encouragement to the participants.
Other speakers included Omar Ceesay, Coordinator of the Kids Got Talent
Show and Fatima B. Ceesay, who spoke on behalf of the participants.
